The Best Years

Okay, so I was watching Eureka on Sci-Fi (by the way, everyone must watch this. It's awesome!) and I decided to look the show up on IMDB because a few of the actors looked familiar (IMDB is a great place to figure all this out =]) and somehow I came upon this show. It was on The-N last summer and I guess they canceled it. I looked for it on this place called the Click and found it and haven't stopped watching since.

Let me set this up for everyone so they could understand my strange, sudden obsession with this show.

" Samantha Best survived a series of foster homes to make it to college in Boston. Now she's on her own with a bottle blonde debutante roommate, Hollywood divas in her acting class, and guys in her shower. Samantha has no past, just one. big. future. Life starts NOW."

This was straight from The-N.com

This show is just a giant dramedy fest from the moment you see this first episode. I mean already within the first three episodes you see someone fall to their death, the main character hooks-up,breaks-up and kiss someone else and she turns purple. Then there is also the usual betrayal and backstabbing. The only issue I have, well, had really, was that the main character, Samantha (Sam) has like three guys (in the latter half of the show, turns to two)fawning over her.

Now, you can't tell me that this isn't a show you wouldn't watch. I mean, sure this is slightly over dramatic but I think it's definitely worth watching at least one episode.

They canceled this because it wasn't the direction they wanted to go in. I think they made a big mistake doing this. Now, I know I'm like what...a year too late to say this but hey! I said it.

Sooo Dramatically yours,
Little Miss Mary Sunshine

My thoughts on the direction The-N is taking

I used to love changing to channel 143 and watching The-N because I knew it had the angsty teen dramas that I knew and obsessively watched. But now, I think it has turned away from their original target audience and just going along with the idea of superficial "reality" shows (I use the term reality VERY loosely of course) and well, Degrassi (which I think will NEVER die and I think that is quite unfortunate).
This is something I was thinking while randomly wandering around the-n's website. I was looking at their list of shows and I saw RFR (Radio Free Roscoe) and Instant Star and I was thinking "Damn! those were some of my favorite shows!". I'm Even talking about shows I may have discounted at first glance (like The Best Years). Then I would remember that they got canceled and get a little angry. I know that after a while things start to get ridiculous (like they do in Degrassi)but come on! We feed on the ridiculousness that is television.

I seemed to have run out of steam on my rant. So...

THEY MAKE AN AMAZING COMEBACK!!!

Yesterday's final game in the Red Sox/Yankees series in Boston and let me tell you....IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!

Although, nobody beaned A.Rod in the arm, they got back at those cocky Bronx Bombers by scoring run after run. I don't know what changed from that horrible game on Saturday to pull it together and make an awesome comeback.

I actually didn't watch until the 6th inning. I'm pretty superstitious and realized every game I watched, they would lose (including the one that I watched at Yankee Stadium).

Why be so ridiculously superstitious?
Well, think about it. This team is rich in superstition [The curse of the Bambino anyone? lol]

Anyways,
The Bronx bombers "bombed" 9-2.

Quick summary of Sox v. Yanks game today

The Red Sox lost. =[[[
It really sucks because I thought that Tim Wakefield would save us and to add insult to injury, the bullpen today was kind of disastrous.

Final score: 10-3

There were three points throughout the game though, I'd like point out as highlights.

#1- the first inning! We got like two runs right off the bat (no pun intended) and I really thought that we would come back from the loss (albeit, a small loss yesterday). Unfortunately,it didn't go that way.

#2- That home run in the 6th! That was amazing.

#3- A.Rod getting beaned in the arm. It was absolutely redemptive and made my entire day. =]]]]]]]]]]]]]

Much Red Sox love,

Listen to this!

When I went to Warped, I passed by the Fearless Records tent (You know, the record label that dropped Sugarcult) and I bought a Start Static CD for a complete Bargain ($5 to be exact) and they gave me a sampler with a few of their bands songs. And there was one band that particularly caught my attention because it was so different. The song was “Roll Right Over” by Eye Alaska. This song reminds me so much of early 90s R&B infused with John Mayer’s smooth vocals. I like it because it’s so different from what is out there in the “scene” right now.
Even though, I only heard one song from Eye Alaska, I think it's definitely worth listening to.

Until next time,

MY VERY FIRST WAPRED TOUR!!!!!!

I went to Warped Tour for the first time ever yesterday @ Bicentennial Park and the minute I got there I was totally overwhelmed. There were so many places to go, so many bands to see. It took me a while to actually see it all, but it was just completely awesome.

The first stage I went to was the Highway 1 stage when Relient K was playing. The first song I heard them play was "Be My Escape" and I thought they were awesome live. I didn't see the rest of the set because I wanted to walk around. By the way, I got some of the cheapest band merchandise ever. I mean, I got
Start Static for five dollars. I also stopped by the Invisible Children tent and bought one of the shirts that I saw at the I.C. screening at my school a few months but was too broke to buy back then. :D

Then, I passed by the Hurley.com tent and saw that Mayday Parade was signing @ 1 o'clock so my sister and I waited there until we got our turn to get our posters signed. I had no idea what to say so I told them that they kicked ass. I geeked out, but they seemed to be flattered by it. After my little geeky moment, we went to the Route 66 stage and waited for Gym Class Heroes to go on stage. But, in between all of the people there, somebody threw a shoe and a guy threatened the person that they were going to hunt them down. Unfortunately, I was next to the person and must've confused me and the person.

So, I thought it was best we left and headed towards the Jack's Mannequin Highway 1 stage. And I was so happy because I think that was the closest I've been to a stage ever. Anyways, I geeked out again when I saw Andrew McMahon on stage. It was an amazing set. He went crazy on the piano and it was just...wow! (And people tried crowd surfing to Jack's Mannequin. I didn't even know that it would fit with that music.)
After my sister got claustrophobic, we headed out of the crowd and took a break before we went to see Mayday Parade on the Hurley Stage. By the way, I could not find that freaking stage for the life of me. It took us forever to find it because we assumed there was only one Hurley Stage but we were so wrong. But that's besides the point. It had been cloudy and raining during the Jack's Mannequin set but it had stopped. Unfortunately, when we were waiting for Mayday Parade, it started raining again which was technically, a relief for my very badly burnt shoulders (forgot the sunscreen).

But, that did not stop us from watching them play. They started off with "Jamie All Over" their new single and then there was an attempt at moshing in the crowd but was stopped instantly. They were also awesome live! Eventually, the crowd surfing got to be too much so we left but not before rocking out to "Jersey", "Three Cheers For Five Years",and "Walk on Water or Drown".

In the end, it was an awesome first experience and I hope I get to go again next year.
:D
